A settlement has been reached with Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital (“SBAMH” or “Defendant”) in a class action lawsuit. This case is about the targeted cyberattack on SBAMH's computer systems that occurred in July 2025 (the “Data Incident”). Certain files that contained private information were accessed. These files may have contained personal information such as names; dates of birth; health insurance information; billing information; and medical treatment information.
The lawsuit is called In Re: Susan B. Allen Data Security Litigation, Case No. BU-2025-CV-000185. It is pending in the District Court of Butler County, Kansas (the “Litigation”). SBAMH denies that it did anything wrong, and the Court has not decided who is right. The Parties have agreed to settle the lawsuit (the “Settlement”) to avoid the costs and risks, disruptions, and uncertainties of continuing the Litigation.
SBAMH's records have identified Class Members that are entitled to benefits under the Settlement. Class Members may have received a previous notice directly from SBAMH.
